Cookies and storage
Last updated: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
In short: the website sets no cookies of its own and uses no analytics or advertising. Items are stored in your browser only when you use a feature that needs them: signing in, live chat after you click "Chat with us", and Paddle's checkout on the payment page.
1. What we mean
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Browsers also have local storage, which works in a similar way. This notice covers both. Under UK law (PECR) a site may store items that are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for; anything else needs your consent.
2. Everything the website can store
| Name | Set by | When | What for | How long | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | This website | Ordinary browsing, help pages, pricing, download | Nothing is stored. | — | — |
drp_session | This website | Only when you sign in | Keeps you signed in to your account. It can't be read by scripts on the page. | 1 year or until you sign out | Strictly necessary |
drp-signed-in (local storage) | This website | Only when you sign in | Remembers that you are signed in, so the menu shows "Account" instead of "Sign in". It holds no personal data. | Until you sign out | Strictly necessary |
Crisp cookies and local storage, such as crisp-client/session/<website ID> | Crisp | Only after you click "Chat with us" | Keeps your chat conversation going across pages and visits. | 6 months | Strictly necessary, for the chat you started |
| Paddle checkout cookies and storage (see Paddle's cookie policy for the names) | Paddle | Only on the payment page, /pay/ | Runs the checkout, keeps the payment secure and prevents fraud. | Set by Paddle | Strictly necessary |
__cf_bm (only while bot protection is on) | Cloudflare | Any page, if bot protection is on | Tells people from bots, to protect the site. | 30 minutes | Strictly necessary |
Paddle's checkout and Crisp's chat are run by those companies. See Paddle's privacy notice and Crisp's privacy policy.
3. Sign in with Apple or Google
If you choose one of these, you are taken to Apple or Google to sign in, and they may set their own cookies on their sites under their own policies.
4. In the Mac app
The app is not a browser and sets no cookies on websites. On your Mac, in the app's data folder, it keeps its install ID, your receipts, scan sessions so a scan can resume, and your account session if you sign in. Nothing from this folder is sent to us except as described in the privacy notice.
5. Your choices
- Sign out to remove the session. Signing out of all devices is on your account page.
- Do not click "Chat with us" and Crisp never loads. You can always use the support page or email instead.
- You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block them, sign-in and checkout may not work.
6. Changes
If we add anything to this list, we will update this page first, and ask for consent where the law requires it.
