What's different on Windows

The Windows version scans, previews and recovers in the same way as on a Mac, with a few gaps. It is in early access.

On Windows, scanning is read-only, both the quick scan and the deep scan run, and the price and free allowance are the same. These are the differences in this version.

Early accessThe Windows version is new and has not been tested widely yet, on many PCs or card readers. If something goes wrong, please tell us.
Not code-signed yetWindows warns when you open setup, and its permission prompts show Publisher: Unknown. More about the warning.
HEIC photosFound and recovered, but there is no preview yet. They are marked Not checked.
Camera RAWCR3, CR2, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, DNG and other RAW files are found and recovered as the original RAW files. The preview is the JPEG the camera stored inside the file, not the full RAW image, so they stay Not checked.
NTFS drivesNo quick scan, so original names and folders are not recovered. The deep scan still finds photos, video, music, documents and archives. This is the same on a Mac.
One copy at a timeOnly one copy of the app runs at a time.
PayingCheckout offers Google Pay, PayPal and card. Apple Pay is only offered on a Mac.
The PC's own driveLocal Disk (C:) is listed, but scanning it isn't offered in this version. This is the same on a Mac.

Not checked does not mean a file is broken. It means the app could not fully decode it to check. What the labels mean.

We will update this page as the gaps are closed.
