Photo Enhancer

What it does

  • Free, on your computerSharpen and upscale 1×, 2× or 4×, fix colour, and crop a photo that was cut short to the part that's really there. Nothing leaves your computer.
  • With AI, for creditsRestore repairs fading, scratches and grain. HD upscale makes a photo at least 3840 pixels on its long side. Each uses one credit per photo.
  • Never over your originalsResults are new files named (enhanced), (restored) or (AI HD), and AI results are marked as AI-redrawn. Compare before and after with a slider.

How it works

Photo Enhancer in three steps

  1. Choose photos

    JPEG, PNG, WebP and TIFF; HEIC on a Mac. As many as you like.

  2. Pick what to do

    The free steps, and if you want, Restore or HD upscale with AI. You see how many credits a run uses first.

  3. Compare and keep

    Results appear as they finish. Open any one for a before and after.

What it can and can't do

  • AI results are redrawn by an AI model: faces and fine detail can come out subtly different. They are always saved as new files and marked.
  • The AI features need the internet and send the photo to the AI service and back. The free steps never leave your computer.
  • A credit is refunded automatically if a photo fails or you stop before it is done. Credits never expire.

Questions about Photo Enhancer

What is the difference between upscale and HD upscale?
Upscale, which is free, enlarges and sharpens on your computer. HD upscale with AI redraws the photo at a higher resolution with an AI model, which recovers more fine detail on small or soft photos.
Does it change my original photos?
No. Every result is a new file next to the original or in a folder you choose.
Are my photos uploaded?
Only for the AI features, and only the photos you choose them for. They go to the AI service to be processed and come back; see the privacy notice. The free steps run entirely on your computer.
How do credits work?
One credit enhances one photo with AI. You see your balance and how many a run will use before it starts. Credits never expire.
Can I use it on photos I recovered?
Yes. It works on any photos, and the Done screen of a recovery offers the same steps for the photos it brought back.
