- Open Disk Cloner and choose Drive to driveOr Drive to an image file for a backup on your computer, or Image file to a drive to write a backup or an installer image back.
- Choose the source and the targetThe target must be at least as big as the source. Everything on the target is replaced.
- Click Copy and type REPLACEYour computer asks for permission. Both drives are unmounted while they are copied, so nothing changes on either part way through.
- Let it check the copyWith the check ticked, it reads the target back and compares it with the source.
On a bigger target, the space after the copy is left as it is, so the target looks the same size as the source until you format or resize it.
Parts of the source that can't be read are copied as blank space and counted. If there are many, the source is failing: copy it to an image file first, which reads it once and retries bad spots gently.
This version copies external drives, cards and image files. Your computer's own drive can't be the source or the target.
